Attorney W. Riley Allen

In 2007, 2008 & 2009, Riley was named one of the 500 Leading Lawyers in America by Lawdragon Magazine, whose extensive research covered all areas of law and which attempted to identify, from more than a million lawyers nationwide, the leading 500 lawyers in the country. Only 22 lawyers in Florida were named to this prestigious list in 2007 and only 24 in 2008. Riley previously had been named as one the 500 Leading Plaintiffs' Lawyers in the country. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, one of the highest and most coveted ratings possible for legal ability and ethical standards, and is identified in its Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. He is also listed in Outstanding Lawyers in America and has been named as one of Florida's "Super Lawyers." Riley is listed in every major Who's Who publication available. He has been a long-standing member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and has achieved personally more than sixty settlements or verdicts in excess of one million dollars. Recently, he achieved a $13,000,000.00, result in a bad faith insurance case, one of the largest bad faith results ever achieved in Florida, and one which the insurance carrier could have resolved for $300,000, or less, had it acted appropriately.

Attorney J. Scott Murphy

Scott Murphy began his career in Orlando, Florida in 1983 with the established Orlando firm of Parker, Johnson, Owen & McGuire. In 1988, he was invited to join the firm as a partner, and subsequently helped establish the firm’s second office in South Florida in 1989. After successfully opening that office, he returned to Orlando and was elected as the firm’s Managing Partner in 1991. In 1995, he was invited by a major insurance company to establish its Florida staff attorney program, which he grew to three offices throughout the state by 2001. At that time, he decided to pursue his passion of representing the less fortunate and injured, and joined Riley Allen. Shortly thereafter, the firm became Allen & Murphy, P.A.

Scott Murphy’s practice is devoted to complex Personal Injury, Commercial Litigation and Consumer Fraud cases. The firm has achieved exceptional results in these areas. Scott attended undergraduate college at the University of Miami on a full scholarship for both academics and the debate team. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1980. He followed that with a full scholarship to law school at the University of Miami, graduating with honors in 1983. His current focus is on litigation of medical and professional negligence claims and other cases involving complex issues, requiring aggressive and creative litigation techniques.

Associate Michael Kest

Michael Kest is an associate with Allen & Murphy Law. Although he is a Florida native, he began his career as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the Hawaii County Prosecutor’s Office, where he gained valuable trial experience.

He was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2006 and The Hawaii Bar in 2007 and is also admitted to practice in the Federal Courts. Michael is involved in the legal industry, having served as a vice president of the Hawaii County Bar Association. He also worked in a legal clinic to provide pro-bono / volunteer legal services to those in need in Honolulu.

He received his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 2006 and was a member of the National Championship Trial Team and the Regional Championship Trial Team, in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Michael was president of the Maritime Law Society and was selected to serve as an ambassador to Stetson Law School. He was the recipient of the Hearne Environmental Law Award and was included in the 2005-2006 Who’s Who of American Law Students directory. Michael attended undergraduate college at Florida State University where he played football and served on the Student Advisory and Conduct Boards. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 2000.
